In the Edo period, “gobo” was considered to be a food with energy.
It is said that the name “Kinpira Gobo” came to be used to refer to fried burdock, after Kintaro Sakata's son, Kintaro Sakata, who was a mighty man of great strength.
O-hori's “Kinpira Gobo” is made by stir-frying burdocks and carrots with sugar and soy sauce in a sweet and spicy sauce, which gives it a traditional taste.
